Family Matters

What does it mean to be a Filipino? A frequently asked question but hardly answered by many of us. Survivors of a medley of colonial influences many Filipinos were uncertain of who and what we were. We confused ourselves and others. It seemed futile to even talk about nationhood and nationalism when we had been so hopelessly "Coca-Colonized". Unaware that we think and do is unique perhaps it is the company of non-Filipinos where Filipinos truly stand out. let's see if you'll enjoy and laugh over our amusing, often inimitable mannerism not in derogatory way but in a delightful manner. Let us try to showcase positive Filipino traits as well.

Know you're a Filipino if...

* You're related to every one

* You're middle name us your mother's maiden name

* You're parents call each other "Mommy" and "Daddy"

* You have uncles and aunts named Boy, Girlie, and Sahmmeeh

* You have relatives whose nicknames consist of repeated syllables, such as Jun-Jun, Ling-Ling, and Mon-Mon

* You call the parents of your friends and your own parent's friends "Tito" and "Tita"

* All your Children have four or five names.

* You greet your elders by touching their hands to your forehead.

* You always kiss your relatives on the cheeck whenever you enter or leave the room.

* Your grandmother greets you by smelling your cheeck.

* The prospect of sending your elderly parents to a nursing home is inconceivable

* You abide by your parent's house rules even if you are over 18

* You live with your parents' house until - and at times even after - you're married

* You think nothing about hosting a houseful of balikbayan relatives for weeks on end - and can still smile about it.

* You demand that your children sing and dance to amuse your friends and relatives.

*You'll sell, borrow, beg, or steal the last carabao to send children and siblings to university.

next time will be Where We live

Roads that bridge to success

I've been thinking if roads are only built stronger and set in best standards hassles and inconvenience may be avoided. Roads and highways are necessities and bridges to success. Thousand of vehicles uses this daily so it is necessary to have the good road for comfortable travel. I came across to an information that may help our government to choose a better quality in building roads for our progress.

The Roadway Construction Products division of Mid-Park, Inc. prides itself in the development of top-quality guardrail, crash cushions, dowel baskets, and other products for roadway safety and construction. Terminal sections for guardrails are also produced, as well as guardrail posts of any size and shape. Roadway Construction Products also produces channel, tube, or other special guardrail for bridges.

They offer only the best to last.
